CALL FOR PAPERS
THEME: The Role of Religion in Nigeria’s Technology, Economic, and Security architecture
Nigeria, a country of profound religious and ethnic diversity, is at a critical juncture of its development. As a deeply religious society, the influence of faith on the daily lives of its citizens is undeniable, extending beyond personal piety to shape societal norms, economic behaviors, and political dynamics. Simultaneously, Nigeria is grappling with rapid technological advancement, complex economic challenges, and persistent security threats. Recent reports from organizations like the World Bank and PwC highlight Nigeria’s ongoing challenges with inflation, insecurity, and human capital development, even as the government pursues economic reforms and a transition to a more digital, knowledge-based economy. This presents a unique and compelling context to examine the intricate and often ambivalent relationship between religion and these three crucial pillars of national life. We invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit original, unpublished papers that critically analyze the nexus between religion, technology, economy, and security within the contemporary Nigerian context. In this year’s conference we encourage submissions that are empirical, theoretical, or review-based, or offer new insights into this complex interplay, while the sub-themes will envision different subsets of the focus of the conference.
