Welcome to Islamic Welfare Foundation

Unity and Understanding amongst the Muslim Ummah

The Islamic Welfare Foundation (I.W.F.) was established in 1986 as a forum for Muslim professionals to make their expertise available for the propagation of Islam.

The founding National Coordinator was the late Alhaji Saka Fagbo while the incumbent is Mallam Aliu Badmus, the former President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Operations Research of Nigeria.

The central goal of the foundation is to improve the dedication of the Muslims to Islam and to empower Nigeria Muslims to react rationally and be pro-active to contemporary challenges as opposed to their hitherto "emotional" approach to issues. The strategy for achieving this is to build a formidable store of facts and make them readily available to all interested persons.

The Foundation has since published several research reports. She is now promoting the Annual Conference on Islam-in-Nigeria (COIN) to generate information and collate facts about Muslims.

Philosophy

The foundation is guided by Qur’an Chapter 6 verse 162, “Certainly my worship, my sacrifice, my life and my death are for ALLAH …”

MPF Luncheon

The Islamic Welfare Foundation usually organizes the Muslim Professionals’ Forum (MPF) Luncheon quarterly. The Luncheon is designed to bring together Muslim Professionals to discuss contemporary issues, which concerns our faith. It is felt that given the very tight schedule of professionals, there is need to come together under a relaxed atmosphere to brainstorm on political and scientific issues as relating to Islam. This will also increase our awareness on global problems and offer Islamic antidotes to these problems.

Some of the topics that have been discussed at the forum include:

  • Crisis in the Middle East
  • Cloning: The Islamic Viewpoint
  • 2003 Election: The Fate Of The Muslims
  • US-Iraq Face-Off: Implications on the Muslims
  • Leadership and Moderation in Islam : Prof. Sheu Jimoh
  • Islam and the Challenges of Evolution of Science and Technology in Nigeria : Prof. Hussein O.B. Oloyede
  • Roaming the Earth for the sake of Allah: Dr. Abdullateef Oladimeji
