The Islamic Welfare Foundation (IWF) could not be more pleased since we heard the announcement of Professor Abdulwahab Olasupo EGBEWOLE as the 11th Vice Chancellor designate of the Better by Far University, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. This announcement gives us renewed faith in the system to see that the appropriate applicant was selected among the 13 outstanding individuals who keenly contested for the position after 29 applicants were screened from across the country.

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Mallam Habidu Yazid made the announcement to the delight of all. Since then, we have observed the outpouring of excitement over the appointment. It is reassuring that Prof. Egbewole’s efforts in the University of Ilorin, the Academic world, the legal profession, and community services across the country have not gone unnoticed. Often those who work the hardest are not those we hear about. We are glad that, in this case, Prof. Egbewole’s efforts are being noted. Thus, it is undeniable that Prof. Egbewole has paid his dues and has done the grind.

This appointment clearly acknowledges Prof. Egbewole’s outstanding service as well as the trust of the University of Ilorin in him, which we believe would be stronger during and after his tenure in 2027, Insha Allah. Just as Prof. Egbewole’s tenure as National Secretary of this foundation left an indelible mark, we pray that his tenure as the 11th Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin will be as excellent as that of the 8th Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, a foundational member of this organisation, as he is.

We are confident that under Prof. Egbewole’s stewardship, wisdom and guidance, the University of Ilorin will strive to much greater heights and achievements and will move ever closer to realising its vision and mission.
