Abstract:
This paper examined the impacts of religious organisation is the development
in the society. In the recent years, the numbers of religious organisation under
the umbrella of the two main religions has increased geometrically compared
to the period before 1999. Apart from the facts that population is increasing at
a faster rate, the need to meet the demands of this population outburst is a
great concern to all stakeholders without exception to the religious
organisations. Hence, the rationale behind this research is to evaluate the
role of religious bodies in the quest for tangible development in Nigerian
society. An empirical and a doctrinal approach are used to analyse all
gathered data in this work. The history of Islamic organisation was therefore
examined and their role in the development of the society.
